You want us to "TAKE YOU TO THE FINISH LINE"

You are here because you have purchased most of the documents yourself and you need assistance with finalizing your document portfolio whether you apply at the Italian Consulate, through the Italian Courts, or in Italy. We can take you to the finish line.

Collaborative Citizenship Assistance Program

This program includes our Document Review Consultation to determine if the documents you have are in the right format and properly certified if there are any missing documents, and if there are discrepancies in names and dates that need to be corrected. Based on the findings, we will acquire the additional required documents from both Italy and the U.S. and process the suggested amendments. In addition, we can legalize all the required U. S. documents with Apostilles and translate them into Italian.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Collaborative Citizenship Assistance Program includes:

  • Document Review Consultation - a full audit of the documents you have already acquired.
  • Procurement of all the missing required documents from both Italy and the U.S.
  • Processing corrections and amendments of U.S. vital records (if necessary)
  • Affixing the Apostilles to all the required US documents

This program is tailored for those applicants who want assistance with finalizing their document portfolio in preparation of their Consulate appointment.

If you are a do-it-yourselfer and have started the process of collecting all the Italian and U.S. vital records, but would like professional assistance to complete your application portfolio, then the Collaborative Citizenship Assistance Program meets your needs. My Italian Family will pick up where you left off...

From reviewing the documentation you have already acquired, purchasing any missing documents (including Italian and U.S. records), addressing inconsistencies with US documents, to apostilling the required U.S. vital records and translating them to Italian.

(If you would rather rely on our professional Team to manage your entire document portfolio, then the Full Start-to-Finish Program is the right choice.)

As soon as we receive your order, you will be contacted by one of our Project Managers to set up the Document Review Consultation. We will email you directions on preparing and submitting your family information and documentation prior to the consultation.

During the 60-minute call, we will confirm that you meet the qualification requirements, determine the required documentation and compare it against what you have already acquired, and suggest possible needed corrections. The end result is a plan to "take to you the finish line" including the total estimate which will include apostilles and translations to Italian.

Part of the program requires you to provide a copy of your valid Photo ID, and potentially sign and notarize some Limited Power of Attorney Forms so we can procure any missing required Italian and U.S. vital records.

The price for the Collaborative Citizenship Assistance Program starts at $2,500. Additional fees apply based on the work that My Italian Family will have to conduct to finalize your document portfolio (such items as genealogical research, additional vital records from both Italy and the U.S., potential amendments and the number of required Apostilles and Translations to Italian).

The step is to conduct the thorough Document Review Consultation. The result will be a plan with the estimated cost included. These additional fees will range between $1,500 and $5,000 based on the additional work required to finalize your document portfolio.

Our goal is to complete your project as soon as possible, but some government agencies may take up to 14 months to fulfill records orders.

Here are the expected timelines:

  • Italian Vital Records take about 2-6 months to fulfill.
  • Naturalization Papers could take up to 14 months to fulfill.
  • U.S. Vital Records may take up to 12 months to fulfill.
  • Amendments to U.S. Vital Records may take up to 12 months to fulfill.
  • Apostilles take approximately 1-3 months depending on the States involved
  • Translations to Italian take about 1 month

2. Buying property in Italy is easier.

There is really no limit of the number of generations, provided your ancestor was born in Italy and emigrated after the beginning of the Kingdom of Italy, March 17th, 1861 and did not naturalize before July 1, 1912. If you are unsure or if you have questions, you can schedule a Free Telephone Consultation

If your Italian Ancestor was born in Italy before 1861, but migrated to another country after 1861, he or she was an Italian citizen. If instead, your Italian Ancestor migrated away or died before 1861, he or she was NOT an Italian citizen.

If your Italian Ancestor naturalized before July 1, 1912, you do not qualify for Italian citizenship even if his or her child was born before this individual naturalized. Prior to that date, when a native-born Italian naturalized in another country, he gave up not only his own Italian citizenship but also that of all of his minor children, regardless of where they were born. Ancestors who naturalized before July 1, 1912 cannot pass on Italian citizenship under Italian Law No. 555 of July 23, 1912.
