PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO THE "SHELTER IN" ORDER THAT SOME US STATES HAVE INSTITUTED UNTIL APRIL 7, 2020, SOME PUBLIC OFFICES MAY BE CLOSED. ITALY CONTINUES TO BE ON "LOCKDOWN" UNTIL APRIL 3, 2020.
We are extremely saddened by the fact that Italy has been hit so hard by the Coronavirus outbreak. We won't go into the details as to the reasons why this happened, however we know that the areas that have been affected are very densely populated, and the population of retirees in Italy is the largest in Europe. We should not forget that Italians are resilient, and they will come back stronger than ever, they have done it for centuries, but it may take a bit more time.
With this in mind, we have been talking to several of you who have expressed concerns regarding the consequences that this health crisis may have on the services that we offer. While the travel restrictions that are currently in place have put on a temporary hold our "Onsite Family Trips" as well as our "Onsite Family Research Projects" given that our researchers in Italy are required to stay home (along with most of the remaining Italian population), our ITALIAN DUAL CITIZENSHIP SERVICES are in no way affected. Here is why:
1. Italian Consulates here in the US continue to work as usual with some restrictions. More HERE;
2. Town Halls in Italy are still open, although there may be some delays especially in larger cities;
3. The Vital Records offices as well as Secretary of State offices here in the US are open for business, so there are no delays when requesting naturalization records, US vital records and Apostilles;
4. Our Translators in Italy have always been working from their homes and we are keeping them super busy as usual;
Finally, all present and future applicants should always keep in mind that the journey to Italian Dual Citizenship is not a short one; the time it takes to put together an entire document portfolio and for the Italian Consulates to "process an application" is between 12 to 24 months (or longer). By then, we sincerely hope that this Coronavirus will be a thing of the past!
So call us, email us or chat with us if you have any concerns or would like updates; we are always available.
