In the Italian Language, Casa Belvedere means “house with a beautiful view” and nowhere is this more evident than atop Grymes Hill, Staten Island. With its lavish grounds and rich history, Casa Belvedere is poised on nearly three acres, boasting spectacular view of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge and The New York City Harbor.
The Foundation’s mission is not only to preserve and celebrate a rich and centuries old culture, but to preserve and restore a historic, stately and regal building. Built in 1908 as the private home of the Roebling-Stirn family, the Louis A. and Laura Stirn mansion was designated a New York City Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Casa Belvedere, and its sprawling campus, provides a haven of public arts and exceptional cultural programming. The Belvedere Campus is on track to become a premier Tri-State area tourist destination and a model for other such Italian Cultural Centers to develop throughout the country. Though buzzing with activity, the building’s restoration and transformation journey -- from a private home to a public Italian Cultural Center -- is ongoing. Give a gift today towards the “Saving A National Treasure for the Next Generation” ongoing capital campaign and bring us that much closer to completely transforming Casa Belvedere to a fully functional, 14,000 square feet building serving the public.
