Our Translator
I have received a letter from Italy that seems to indicate they are relatives. I have used the online translation sites however my difficulty is in reading the handwriting. It is difficult to type the words when I cannot decipher the letters. I was wondering if someone would be willing to read the letter and translate it for me? (Sue Passariello)

At My Italian Family you will get a friendly and personalized service to translate documents or letters from Italian into English and vice versa.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are applying for Dual Citizenship, you may be aware that all U.S. documents requiring APOSTILLE must be translated into Italian. We strongly suggest that you contact the Italian Consulate of the State where you reside to learn which documents need APOSTILLE and have to be translated into Italian, and to understand if the Consulate itself provides for the translation as part of their service.

Generally speaking, all birth, marriage and death certificates for all your family members (including your children under the age of 18 because they will acquire dual citizenship along with you) in a direct line between you and your Italian ancestor must bear an APOSTILLE and be translated into Italian. By default, all other documents do not fall into this category; specifically the U.S. Certificate of Naturalization or any statement releasing information on the naturalization status of the interested party and U.S. certificates that are not related to the Italian side of your Family Tree.
Once again, we strongly suggest you contact the Italian Consulate of the State where you reside and check with them regarding their specific requirements.

COST OF THE SERVICE:

I worked hard with the translation by myself and then wanted someone to edit it. Several persons finally responded but no one came through with the smooth and fluid translation that you did. You are my hero! Thank you so very much. (Louise Pedone-Compis)

We charge a minimum of $50 per 1-page document translated.
If you have more than 1-page document and would like to receive an estimate, please refer to our contact numbers listed below.

OUR TRANSLATOR:

My name is Karen Nilson and I was born in Cagliari 34 years ago.
Being Italian-American (my father is American and my mother Italian) I am bilingual; after graduation from University I started to dedicate most of my time providing translation services for foreign companies.
Besides, I am very active in the organization of cultural events also in collaboration with the University of Cagliari.
Translating for My Italian Family, especially correspondence between those who remained in Italy and those who left reminds me of what happened to my father's family who left Sweden in late 1800 to start a new life in America. *****
