My name if Caterina Amoroso and I was born in L'Aquila (Abruzzo) on March 24, 1972. I live in Calatafimi, a small town in the province of Trapani, famous for those historical events that link it to Segesta, a very well-known archeological Sicilian site.
I live with my family: my parents and my two sisters, Mariella (with a degree in psychology) and Roberta (with a degree in Modern Litteratures).
I have always been interested in what belongs to the past, from old popular traditions to collecting small antiques related to our rural culture. Collecting is the hobby that I love the most; I started with stamps, postcards, unusually shaped bottles, glasses, etc. My other interests are music, both classic and modern, traveling, crocket work and embroidery (my paternal grandmother, whom I have inherited my first name from, was my teacher) and cooking, this last one I am particularly fond of together with my father.
It is with my father that I started to become interested in genealogy; together we discovered a distant relative in the US after researching our family tree. He came to see us here in Sicily and we were moved by his enthusiasm to reconnect and rediscover his roots and traditions (only a vague memory inherited by his grandparents!)
It is for this reason that I became more and more interested in genealogical research, something that it is so intriguing the more we discover older information.
For those of you who dream of discovering the land of your Ancestors and plan to travel to Italy, Caterina can escort you and research your family together with you in the town of origin.
