Genealogy has always been my great interest. I remember when I was young I loved to listen to all the family stories that my grand parents and great grand parents shared with me. I still have a journal that I used to keep when I was about ten years old with my very own made up pedigree and family groups.

That was a good start, but since then my pedigree has obviously improved a lot. I have had the opportunity to extensively research original records looking for my ancestors. I have enjoyed sharing my findings with my family members and making them thrilled about all the new information I had collected not to mention my research adventures.

In the mid eighties I started working with the Genealogical Society of Utah in the acquisition of microfilmed copies of records of genealogical interest in Italy and in England.

During the last five years I was based in the U S where I attended Brigham
Young University in Provo and worked with Dr. George Ryskamp professor of Family History at the same University. Today, I am the first and only Italian to have obtained a degree in Family History, Genealogy from BYU (1999).

I am a member of PHI ALPHA THETA (Historical Honor Society), AGP (Association of Professional Genealogists), and POINT (Pursuing Our Italian Names Together). Lately I have also participated to some Genealogical Conferences in the US speaking on a variety of Italian Family History topics: Hispanic Fam. Hist. Conference, BYU Oct. 2000; POINT National Conference, Austin Oct. 2000; UGA, Salt Lake City Apr. 1999; POINT, Sacramento Apr. 1999; POINT National Conference, Las Vegas Oct. 1998; BYU, Genealogy and Family History Conference Aug. 1998.

I am currently working as a genealogist in both Italy, collaborating with My Italian Family, and the United States.

Dear George:
Once again, I was quite pleased with the additional information that Paola provided from her last trip to Italy. Please thank her for me.
I would like her to continue . . . her narratives are making the experience quite real for me and I'd like to discuss the possibility of a return to the sites in Italy.
Sincerely, A. W.
